Elina Pilates Reformers: How the Range Is Organized
Elina Pilates builds more reformer variants than most buyers expect. The product names do not always show how the models relate to each other, which makes a first look at the range confusing. Sorted by purpose, the machines fall into a handful of families. Once you know which family fits your room and teaching style, the choice usually narrows to two or three models.
How many Elina reformer families are there?
There are five: folding home reformers, aluminium studio reformers, maple studio reformers, classical 86 in reformers and raised-bed Physio reformers. Elina also builds Cadillac reformers that combine a carriage with a trapeze frame, but those sit alongside the reformer range as a separate category rather than inside it.
Home reformers: Domo, Fold and Vertical
These three are built to disappear between sessions. The Domo has a telescopic aluminium frame that closes up to slide under a bed or stand against a wall. The Fold is a maple frame that folds in half and stands 51.18 in high on its wheels, with a patented alignment system that removes the bump at the join. The Vertical is also maple and parks upright on two removable legs.
Aluminium and maple studio reformers
Most studio buyers choose from this group. Aluminium frames look contemporary and maple frames bring warmth, but weight overlaps more than people assume: the aluminium Nubium and the maple Lignum both weigh 139 lb.
- Nubium: a white aluminium frame 98.03 in long on eight polyurethane carriage wheels that stores upright. The Black Edition is the same machine finished entirely in black.
- HL 1 to HL 4: one aluminium design at four bed heights of 8.66, 10.63, 16.54 and 24.41 in, all stackable horizontally.
- Mentor: aluminium with steel feet, 101.97 in long, with an integrated mini tower and a footbar that travels through 22 horizontal positions.
- Lignum: an entry maple frame with height adjustable pulleys and a 7-position footbar.
- Wood Reformer: Elina's first reformer, in rock maple with a 4-position spring bar.
- Club: maple with a lever-operated spring bar that moves through 5 positions in neutral or preloaded settings.
- Elite: the first stackable wooden reformer, with a 7-position quick-change footbar and six springs.
- Elite Advanced: replaces fixed footbar stops with an infinite footbar that slides the full frame length.
- Master Instructor: American maple with an integrated mini tower whose pulleys adjust in height and width.
Classical and Physio models
The Classic 86 in reformers follow the classical method. Natural maple, walnut and aluminium versions share four classic-style springs, natural leather straps, a metal pole and wooden handles on an 88.58 in frame. The wood versions add carriage stoppers with two positions at the head end and three at the foot end.
The Physio reformers raise the bed for assisted and hands-on work. The Physio Wood sits at 18.9 in and the Master Instructor Physio at 23.62 in, compared with 15.75 in on the standard Master Instructor. Each keeps the spring set of the model it is based on.
What is standard across the Elina range?
Black or grey upholstery is standard on nearly every model, with more colors made to order. Many studio frames, including the HL, Mentor, Club, Elite, Master Instructor and Classic lines, carry a 10-year structural cover. Footbar, spring bar and pulley systems are where the models genuinely differ from each other.
